Shown is a CT scan of a head for which there was a stereotactic frame. To the right is a 3d perspective view of the frame. The user selects the rods to locate, and then clicks on the image of each rod on the CT scan. The color of the rods turn from red back to steel as each rod is located on the two dimensional image.
After locating the rods on more than one image, a rigid transformation is solved for the entire image set patient model to the stereotactic frame. The intersection of the rods with the CT images may now be shown to verify the correctness of the stereotactic frame solution. Further, the points that were located on the images are now shown on the 3d room view of the rod system and should lie inside their respective rods.
